In the most exciting day in the history of Michigan Cricket, Midwest Cricket Conference defeated the defending champions, International Cricket Management League in the finals of the USACA Central East Region Regional tournament 2008 played at the Bloomer Park, Rochester Hills, Michigan on Monday, the 26th May 2008.

 

The epic event was conducted during the memorial day weekend which was witnessed by many cricket lovers around the area. The final game was just the exclamation mark of the great event  in the weekend. The event was kicked off on the Saturday, 24th May 2008 with three matches at

v     the Bloomer Park, Rochester Hills, Michigan

v     the Lyon Oaks, Wixom, Michigan

v     TAG Sports Complex [ East] , Hartland, Michigan

 

There were six league games played among the participating teams and at the end of the grueling initial round matches, Midwest Cricket Conference and International Cricket Management League qualified for the finals with undefeated records.

 

The event was covered in print by Asian Sports Magazine. The three day carnival is considered as the best cricketing event in Michigan cricketing history in the recent years.

 

The USACA CER Board allocated the event to Michigan this year. The Great Lakes Cricket Conference Tournament organizing committee was really thrilled and honored to host the Conferences / Leagues who were wonderful guests through out the tournament. The Tournament witnessed dedicated service from volunteers during the entire weekend.

 

With the guidance and support of the CER Board, Mr Khurram Syed, the CER Board Chairman, Mr Masood Chik, the USACA  Executive Director CER , Mr Nabeel Ahmed, the first Vice President USACA and Chairman GLCC, the GLCC Tournament organizing committee made the 2008 CER Regional tournament into a grand success.

 

Games

 

The 2008 CER Regional Tournament was held in the Detroit area in three venues Bloomer Park, Lyon Oaks Park and TAG Sports Complex (East) on Saturday and Sunday 24th and 25th May 2008 and the Grand Finale played on Monday 26th May 2008 in Bloomer Park.

 

The Six Conferences/Leagues

  1. National Cricket League (NCL)
  2. Directors' XI (DXI)
  3. Midwest Cricket Conference (MCC)
  4. Great Lakes Cricket Conference (GLCC)
  5. International Cricket Management League (ICML)
  6. American Cricket Conference (ACC)

 

played in a round robin unbalanced scheduling to complete two league games and the top two teams from the League stage Midwest Cricket Conference and International Cricket Management League qualified for the finals and played on the Monday, 26th May 2008 at the Bloomer Park and Midwest Cricket Conference won the grand finale to defeat the defending champions International Cricket Management League.
